Clay County Heritage Center
Gallery Exhibits
The Clay County Heritage Center is located in downtown Spencer. It opened in July 2012 and It houses two galleries and the bulk of our collection. A permanent exhibition in the Dvergsten Gallary titled "This Land We Call Home – Settling Clay County” illustrates archeological, pioneer, and early Clay County histroy, including the 1931 Spencer Fire.
The South Gallery features rotating exhibits with WWI Honor Roll and Clay County: Lest We Forget currently on display

ADMISSION IS FREE THANKS TO SPONSORSHIP BY HYVEE.
The South Gallery rotates exhibits every few months using both artifacts from our collection and loaned items.
Our South Gallery is currently closed for repair after the June 22, 2024 flood.
